Student access, student equity and student success. That’s what the Educational Services and Support Division is committed to building and strengthening throughout the California Community Colleges.
The division oversees state-level review of community college curricula and instructional support activities. It provides leadership and technical assistance to boost community college effectiveness of areas such as academic planning, review and approval of credit degrees and certificates, library and learning resources, strategic planning in technology, basic skills and English as a Second Language, program development and coordination, adult education, the Fund for Student Success – Mathematics, Engineering, Science Achievement (MESA) program, the Puente Project and the Middle College High School program. It also oversees initiatives such as the Inmate Education Pilot Program, Dual Enrollment, Open Education Resources and more.
The division also administers nearly $600 million annually in categorical and grant funding that help our community colleges provide support services across their campuses, in additional to supplemental services for special populations. From CalWORKs to Mental Health Services to textbook affordability, we are here for our students.
