SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Today, California Community Colleges’ Executive in Residence for Strategic Technology Initiatives Jory Hadsell issued the following statement regarding the agreement announcement from Instructure, Canvas’ parent company, following the company’s cybersecurity incident:

“The California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office continues to monitor the recent cybersecurity incident involving Instructure’s Canvas platform and remains focused on supporting colleges and protecting student and employee data.

“Our priority throughout this incident has been the safety and security of our campus communities. We will continue working closely with college leaders and our technology partners as additional information becomes available.

“At this time, the Chancellor’s Office is not aware of any indication that the previously referenced release of data is expected to occur.”
