What is a Partnership Resource Team (PRT)

Institutional Effectiveness Partnership Initiative (IEPI) was launched in 2014 as an initiative from the California Community Colleges Chancellor’s office that provides technical assistance through its Partnership Resource Teams to other colleges in the system. The Partnership Resource Team (PRT) is comprised entirely of volunteers like YOU.

The process begins with a short Letter of Interest from a college CEO seeking technical assistance from a PRT. Once a request is approved, PRT volunteers are matched by their expertise with the Area(s) of Focus (AOFs) identified by the institution seeking technical assistance.

How to Volunteer to Serve on a PRT

Volunteers are asked to complete and submit the appropriate online PRT Expertise survey to create an expertise profile. Please choose a link below to access the survey.

Note: The entire survey must be completed to be added to the provisional PRT volunteer pool.

Next Steps after Completing the Survey

Once you complete and submit the PRT Expertise survey, the next steps are:

  • The Academic Senate consults with local Senate presidents before moving faculty volunteers to the approved pool and transferring the data to IEPI.
  • Peggy Lomas, the IEPI Project Director, consults with each non-faculty volunteer’s home CEO or designee to ensure that he or she has no concerns about the volunteer’s service before moving each volunteer to the approved pool.
  • Tentative PRTs for specific institutions are drawn from the combined approved pool based on a careful match between the institution’s areas of focus and the volunteers’ (YOUR) areas of expertise.
  • Each final PRT member is approved by the IEPI Executive Committee, the CCCCO, and the receiving institution’s CEO.

If you are selected for a PRT, the IEPI Project Director will notify you by email at the email address you provided in the survey. We will give you instructions to complete the necessary paperwork, arrange training, and begin the process of scheduling the first two visits to the campus seeking assistance.

Please note: Part of the paperwork we require is a Participation Certification Form, which must be signed by the appropriate local administrator authorizing your service on a specific PRT and then submitted to IEPI well before the initial visit.

Benefits of Serving on a PRT – Colleagues Helping Colleagues

By volunteering to serve on a Partnership Resource Team, you become part of a team of colleagues who work together to enhance and improve another college in the system by offering options and suggestions related to their Area of Focus (AOF) for the PRT.

We often hear from our PRT members that this experience provides a deep and rewarding opportunity to meet other colleagues, make long-lasting connections and friendships, and make an impact in the system that they wouldn’t otherwise get a chance to do.

It’s not unusual for our PRT members to request another PRT opportunity as soon as their current one is completed. We are so proud of the impact IEPI PRT members have made to California Community Colleges and hope you join us to experience this amazing and rewarding opportunity for yourself.

Note: PRT members may be asked to share their experience with others at PRT training workshops or at presentations to statewide organizations and conferences.
