CALIFORNIA COMMUNITY COLLEGES STEPPING UP TO CONDUCT COVID-19 VACCINE CLINICS

Several community colleges are working with county health officials to conduct community COVID-19 vaccinations as part of the state’s comprehensive vaccination strategy. California community colleges have a long history of stepping up and opening our facilities for emergency responses, and many more of our colleges are expected to become involved.

The initial phase of the vaccination effort is under way or already completed in some regions. This covers health care workers, including students and faculty in this sector, and long-term care residents. People 65 year or older are prioritized, and workers at risk of exposure in both K-12 and higher education are also slated for vaccination in the early stages of rollout.

Be on the lookout for communications from your health care provider about vaccination opportunities. So far, nearly 1 million doses have been administered in California, covering about 2.5% of the population.
