SACRAMENTO, Calif. — California Community Colleges Chancellor Eloy Ortiz Oakley issued the following statement on the nomination of Miguel Cardona as secretary of education:

"On behalf of the California Community Colleges, I want to congratulate Dr. Miguel Cardona on his nomination as secretary of education. Cardona is a committed public servant and accomplished educator who will be a strong advocate for our nation’s students, especially those have traditionally been underserved. I look forward to working with him and others in the administration of President-Elect Joe Biden on strengthening support for students and educating the workforce that will lead us to economic recovery.”
