SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Today, California Community Colleges’ Executive in Residence for Strategic Technology Initiatives Jory Hadsell issued the following statement regarding the cybersecurity incident affecting Canvas.
“The California Community Colleges Security Center is actively responding to the cybersecurity incident affecting Canvas, which has been taken offline to protect the system and prevent further risk.
“Our top priority is to protect our students, faculty, and staff while ensuring continuity of instruction. Colleges are deploying alternative communication channels and instructional approaches to keep students supported and on track.
“We are working in close coordination with Instructure as they investigate the incident, secure the system, and restore services.
“We are also directing our college communities to remain vigilant for phishing or scam messages related to this incident.
