The Institutional Effectiveness and Partnership Initiative (IEPI) was launched in 2014 to help California’s community colleges and college districts improve their operational effectiveness. It is uniquely positioned to help boost student success across the system by providing colleges and college districts the high-quality technical assistance, professional development and resource tools needed to achieve the goals and commitments contained in the California Community Colleges’ Vision 2030.

A central feature of IEPI is the delivery of tailored support to Institutions through a “colleagues helping colleagues” approach. By leveraging the deep expertise and experience from across the California Community College system, IEPI  advances effective practices that strengthen institutional effectiveness and improve student success.

IEPI’s support model includes two key components:

  1. Technical Assistance: Institutions seeking technical assistance to address specific Area(s) of Focus identified as priorities for improvement initiate the PRT process by submitting a Letter of Interest.
  2. Peer Expertise and Collaboration: Experienced colleagues from across the system volunteer to serve on a Partnership Resource Team (PRT), offering guidance, practical solutions, and suggestions for institutional improvement that help institutions achieve their goals.

Examples of the impact IEPI Partnership Resource Teams have made in institutions across the California Community College system can be seen in the Testimonials and Spotlights.

Response to IEPI’s efforts have been positive across the California Community Colleges. Workshop evaluations, for example, show that professional development offerings are timely and relevant, while partnership resource teams are praised for facilitating substantial improvements in areas of focus while promoting professional growth and breaking down silos.
