VISION FOR SUCCESS CORE COMMITMENT: DESIGN AND DECIDE WITH THE STUDENT IN MIND

This is part of our new series highlighting colleges activating the core commitments

The Vision for Success invites us to design all institutional programs, policies, and investments with the student experience in mind, particularly the experience of students of color and other under-resourced groups; and “err” on the side of students whenever possible in individual administrative and classroom decisions that have the power to either move students forward toward their end goals or hold them back. Authentic and representative student engagement is essential for designing community colleges that work for everyone.

This month, we feature Shasta College for activating core commitment 2 in their Accelerated College Education (ACE) Program, designed to allow students to continue working or caring for family members while attending full-time in pathways with compressed timelines. ACE centers students by acknowledging their complex lives and structuring pathways and supports to help them achieve their educational goals.
