VISION IN ACTION LAUNCHES MONTHLY PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT EDITION

Beginning next week, Vision in Action will send a special edition dedicated to promoting professional development opportunities available to California community college employees. Once a month, the Vision in Action Professional Development edition will feature conferences, workshops, webinars, new learning and training, as well as other helpful resources. 

This special edition will be sent through the Vision Resource Center, the online professional development hub providing all California community college employees equitable access to training, online communities and a workshop calendar.

California community college employees must be registered users of the Vision Resource Center to receive the monthly Vision in Action Professional Development edition. Please make sure you are a registered user of the Vision Resource Center by logging in or registering for an account here.

 

CHANCELLOR’S OFFICE AND FOUNDATION FOR CALIFORNIA COMMUNITY COLLEGES LAUNCH UNDOCUMENTED STUDENTS SUPPORT eHANDBOOK

A coordinated effort between the California Community Chancellor's Office (Chancellor’s Office) and the Foundation for California Community Colleges (FoundationCCC), with philanthropic support from The James Irvine Foundation, led to the development of this exciting resource. The eHandbook highlights promising practices in providing holistic resources and services to undocumented students and provides guidance and support to practitioners across the system.

We are excited to announce the launch of the first chapter of the new CCC Undocumented Students Support eHandbook

A coordinated effort between the California Community Chancellor's Office (Chancellor’s Office) and the Foundation for California Community Colleges (FoundationCCC), with philanthropic support from The James Irvine Foundation, led to the development of this exciting resource. The eHandbook highlights promising practices in providing holistic resources and services to undocumented students and provides guidance and support to practitioners across the system.

Chapter 1 introduction includes:

  • Overview
  • Current Chancellor’s Office/FoundationCCC Efforts for Systematic Support
  • CCC Undocumented Student Services over the years
  • Engaging administrators, presidents, and vice-presidents, Chief Business Officers
  • Intersectionality and holistic support for Undocumented Students
  • Forging the Undocumented Student Pathway - Why is our work important?

This eHandbook will highlight achievements of the UndocuLiasion Network and the progress made over the years in undocumented student support services. Future chapters will include topics like the undocumented student enrollment journey, UndocuAlly Trainings, Financial Aid, Undocumented Student Centers, Promising practices for counselors and faculty among other topics.

The Chancellor’s Office System Webinars in 2022 will take place during the first Wednesday of each month. The next 2022 System Webinar is scheduled for March 2 from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. Register NowRegistration is only required one time. The recording and slides from the previous webinar - In Their Own Voices: Strengthing California Community Colleges Supports & Resources in 2022-23 - are posted in the Vision Resource Center. After logging-in, under the “Communities” menu, visit “All Communities” and look for “CCC | Webinars, Conferences, and Events.” Join this community, then access the “Chancellor’s Office System Webinars” topic to view the content.

Registration is now open for the Pathways to Equity Act Virtual Conference. The Pathways to Equity conference provides a space for a diverse community of creators, educators, administrators and practitioners to inspire one another to reform, reshape and recreate a collegiate environment focused on student equity through use of a Guided Pathways framework. Keynote speakers will focus on anti-racism as a foundation for equity work in the community college system. Breakout sessions will highlight innovative practices that are driving systemic changes in our colleges. We hope you and your team will join us.
