Professional Development Edition California Community Colleges Vision in Action Systemwide news, resources and best practices moving the Vision For Success forward

Vision 2030: A Roadmap for California Community Colleges

The California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office is pleased to introduce Vision 2030, a framework for bold and thoughtful action — action for policy reform, fiscal sustainability, systems development and for process and practice reform in the field — to support our students, our communities and our planet.

As the primary engine of social and economic mobility, California Community Colleges are critical partners to help the state achieve its goal of 70% of working-aged Californians attaining a postsecondary degree or certificate by 2030.

Now is the opportune time to strike a path to 2030, building upon the foundation set by the Vision for Success and evolving to meet the needs of today’s students and California’s future learners in a post-pandemic era.

This iterative plan, Vision 2030: A Roadmap for California Community Colleges, prioritizes data-based, student-centered strategies to bring college to our communities and equitably strengthen access, support and success.

Vision 2030 incorporates a shift in our approach to proactively bring college to our students, wherever they are and not to wait for students to come to us. This includes expanding equitable dual enrollment pathways to adult and high school students; offering credit for prior learning to veterans and working adults through employers and associations; working through community-based organizations to bring workforce training to low-income adults; and providing instruction through flexible modalities.

We invite you to offer input through several channels, including additional convenings around the state to build partnerships that will advance Vision 2030 as well as a feedback form. We value your collaboration and feedback as we refine this framework and action plan.
