Discover How to Spark Curiosity and Build Learner Autonomy with Interactive Video
Intrinsic motivation and student autonomy are critical for deep and transferable learning. Even those of us who already use videos in our online courses may be missing a valuable opportunity to engage students’ sense of wonder, curiosity and autonomy. In a webinar hosted by CVC-OEI, you will learn how to add interactive elements to videos you have created or found in OER, on YouTube or elsewhere.
Julie Gamberg, English instructor at Glendale Community College, will demonstrate how to enhance student engagement with interactive features like ungraded optional pop-ups and inquiry-based pauses. She will use PlayPosit, a tool embedded in Canvas, and will provide a “goody bag” of easy-to-use, step-by-step demonstrations to implement these ideas. All recommended elements are available free of cost to CCC faculty!

Scaling Innovation for Student Success
The 2017-18 Chancellor's Higher Education Innovation Awards recognized the development of emerging practices that substantially change student outcomes. The awards supported innovation that had been scaled or was in the process of being scaled at a California community college or district. This module emphasizes principles for innovating at scale, sharing insights from our awardees’ learning journeys and demonstrating how transformative change happens within our system.
