Design, Build, and Share AI Tools
In alignment with Vision 2030’s focus on equity, access, and innovation, Playlab ensures that all materials created during the partnership with the Chancellor’s Office remain accessible to their creators for the life of the platform.
Through this initiative, faculty, staff, and administrators can design, build, and share AI tools that support teaching, learning, operations, and student services. This initiative supports Vision 2030 by expanding equitable access to artificial intelligence across the California Community Colleges system. The Playlab partnership is intended to ensure that faculty and staff are not only using AI tools, but also actively shaping how those tools are developed and applied in support of student success, innovation, and institutional effectiveness. The platform emphasizes equitable design, including support for multilingual learners, first-generation students, and the programs that serve them.
What is Playlab?
Playlab is a no-code AI platform that allows educators, counselors, administrators, and staff to build AI tools without programming experience. Each California Community College has its own private workspace, allowing colleges to create and share tools within their campus community while maintaining institutional control over their work. The platform is designed to help colleges address local needs while also enabling systemwide sharing and collaboration.
- No-code AI tool building
- Private college workspaces
- Designed for faculty, staff, and administrators
- Supports local innovation and systemwide sharing
- Free to California Community Colleges employees
Who Can Use It?
Playlab access is available to California Community Colleges faculty, staff, and administrators using their college email address. If colleges are planning student-facing use cases or classroom-based student building activities, they should coordinate directly with Playlab to ensure student-specific workspaces are configured appropriately for privacy and instructional use.
How to Get Started
Join the College Workspace
Each California Community College already has a private Playlab workspace. CCC employees can connect to their college’s workspace using their institutional email address. Existing users should log in with their current credentials rather than creating a new account.
Complete Onboarding
New users are encouraged to complete onboarding before joining their college workspace. Onboarding is available through a self-paced @ONE Canvas course and may also be offered through live training sessions.
Explore Training Opportunities
Additional training opportunities include onboarding, Playlab 101, and Playlab 201 sessions focused on prompt engineering, tool construction, refinement, analytics, and scale. These sessions are designed specifically for California Community Colleges faculty, staff, and administrators. The content is tailored to the CCC system — your workspaces, your use cases, your colleagues. If none of the live times work, the self-paced Canvas course is available anytime.
