Call for Faculty Participants
Discipline‑Specific AI Integration to Support CCC Students
The California Community Colleges Teaching and Learning Cooperative (TLC) and Academic Affairs Faculty Professional Development team are seeking California Community Colleges faculty to help students prepare for the realities of AI in their chosen professions.
We are looking for discipline faculty who:
- Are familiar with how AI is currently used in their profession/industry (not just in the classroom).
- Can articulate how AI is changing work, workflows, and expectations in their field.
- Are interested in helping colleagues integrate these realities into courses and programs.
- Can help colleagues design innovative assignments and assessment approaches that authentically incorporate these AI practices.
Faculty Role
Selected faculty will:
- Identify how AI is being used in their discipline and profession (tools, tasks, ethical considerations, and emerging trends).
- Design and delivery of training can be flexible in format. Some ideas include webinars, office hours, short videos, how-to guides, etc. The focus is on incorporating discipline/profession‑specific AI use into teaching and learning to prepare students for civic engagement and career opportunities in an AI enabled world.
- Help develop example assignments, activities, and guidance that support students in understanding and using AI as it is actually used in their field.
Stipend and Support
- Participating faculty will receive a stipend up to $500 in recognition of their time and expertise. The expectation is that this would be a 5-15 hour project.
- TLC/Academic Affairs will provide coordination, shared resources, and support for participating faculty.
How To Apply
Faculty interested in serving as a discipline lead will need to:
Complete a brief online application form describing their discipline, professional AI experience/knowledge, and interest in the project.
