SACRAMENTO, Calif. — California Community Colleges Chancellor Eloy Ortiz Oakley issued the following statement on the announcement that more than 28,750 transfer students, a record number, were offered admissions to University of California campuses:
“This record number of community college transfer students coming from 100 of our campuses and headed to the University of California to pursue bachelor degrees is evidence that our two systems are working together to help more Californians achieve their educational goals and improve the well being of our state. Increased transfer rates from California community colleges to the UC and California State University systems is a key goal of our Vision for Success, and the recent agreement between the California Community Colleges and UC to further strengthen and streamline transfer will accelerate this positive trend.”
In a news release, UC announced it has offered admission to nearly 137,000 students, including the transfer applicants, to at least one of the system’s nine undergraduate campuses this fall.
