Who/What: California Community Colleges Chancellor Eloy Ortiz Oakley will join University of California President Janet Napolitano and California State University Chancellor Timothy White for a discussion about public higher education, social mobility and workforce needs at the 2017 California Economic Summit in San Diego.

Speakers: Oakley, Napolitano and White will participate in an Elevate CA panel discussion regarding what California’s public colleges and universities are doing to advance social mobility and expand California’s middle class. They will also discuss the ways the California Community Colleges, UC and CSU are working together to ensure every qualified student in California, no matter their background, has access to a quality, affordable higher education. Ryan J. Smith, executive director of Education Trust-West, will moderate the discussion. Lt. Governor Gavin Newsom, Treasurer John Chiang and former Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa will also speak at the Summit.
