Education Technology

The Educational Technology unit supports delivery of technology-focused initiatives on behalf of the California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office. These efforts, which are often funded via grants support students and the colleges/districts and help facilitate achievement of the ambitious student completion and equity goals defined in Vision 2030.

Grants

The Chancellor’s Office administers grants that benefit local districts or the California Community Colleges system as a whole. In the current cycle (2018-2023) there are six primary educational technology grants that leverage Proposition 98 funding in order to support the 116 colleges and 73 districts. Many of these grants were awarded to the California Community Colleges Technology Center at the Butte-Glenn Community College District. In addition to Vision 2030, educational technology grants are key to ensuring digital equity for students, colleges and districts.

Grant Term

July 1, 2023 through June 30, 2025 (FY 23/24 and FY 24/25)

Grant Purpose

The California Community Colleges’ Course Exchange, hosted by the Foothill-DeAnza Community College District, is a statewide resource designed to make access to online courses more equitable across the system and accelerate students’ completion of their educational goals. Awarded to Foothill DeAnza Community College District (CCD).

Grant Purpose

To provide development, maintenance, operations, and enhancement support for systemwide applications within the California Community Colleges system such as: OpenCCC, CCCApply, and eTranscript.

Grant Purpose

Systemwide Infrastructure grant provides common and secure technology products and services across the California Community Colleges. It also includes coordination for fiber optic functionality that connects the state’s K-20 campuses and centers.

A benefit for the entire CCC system is scalable and integrated technology solutions which allow the colleges to take advantage of economies of scale.

Valuable accessibility services are provided by this grant to ensure such learning options are available to all for CCC districts, colleges and students.

Grant Term: July 1, 2023 through June 30, 2026 (FY23/24, FY24/25 and FY25/26)

Grant Purpose

The Support Services grant provides foundational technologies, processes, architectures, and technology standards upon which the California Community Colleges rely to deliver system-wide digital storage, communications services, and professional development.

This grant supports the entire CCC system access to on-demand, video streaming, and video conferencing support services. Audio and e-conferencing through Zoom services connect and deliver content to students, faculty, and staff at each community college.

Grant Purpose

The Data Management grant objective is to securely maintain, operate, and support Data Lake and Data Warehouse CCCData Systems to migrate and link major CCC operational and research databases for purposes of institutional improvement and furthering student outcomes at the system and local levels.

Maintain, operate, enhance, and expand use of the Multiple Measures Placement Service (MMPS).
