Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild award winner? Check. National Football League cheerleader? Check. De Anza College alumna? Check. Meet Teri Hatcher, an actress, singer and former NFL cheerleader who studied mathematics and engineering at De Anza College.

Hatcher was born in Palo Alto, the daughter of a computer programmer and a nuclear physicist and electrical engineer. She grew up in Sunnyvale and attended Mango Junior High (now Sunnyvale Middle School) and Fremont High School in Sunnyvale before enrolling at De Anza College in Cupertino.

Hatcher also studied acting at the American Conservatory Theater. In 1985 and 1986, she joined the cast of the popular television series “The Love Boat,” playing the role of Amy, one of the ‘Mermaid’ showgirls. That was followed with the recurring role of Penny Parker on the television series “MacGyver.” Other notable roles include Susan Mayer on the ABC comedy-drama series “Desperate Housewives” and portraying Lois Lane on the ABC comedy-drama series “Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman.” For her work on “Desperate Housewives,” Hatcher won the Golden Globe Award for best actress and three Screen Actors Guild Awards, as well as a Primetime Emmy nomination.

Hatcher has appeared in several movies, including the James Bond film “Tomorrow Never Dies,” “Spy Kids,” “Dead in the Water” and “2 Days in the Valley.”
