U.S. Rep. Anna G. Esho, D-Palo Alto, is a proud alumna of Cañada College who remembers her years at the Redwood City campus fondly.

“My experience at Cañada College was an enriching one,” she said. Cañada, she said, is “a diverse campus, outstanding faculty, a wonderful place to learn and grow, and lifelong friendships have shaped me. How proud I am to be a product of a community college, and my support in Congress is rooted in all that was given to me by so many who were a part of it.”

Eshoo's political career began when she was elected to the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors in 1982. Ten years later she was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives.

Eshoo represented California’s 14th Congressional District from 1993 to 2013 and the 18th Congressional District since 2013. She has consistently advocated for consumers, promoted American competitiveness and innovation, fought for access to health care, protected the environment and encouraged development of clean energy technology. Her positions garner high approval ratings, including from the League of Conservation Voters, the Humane Society, Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans, the Biotechnology Industry Organization, the American College of Emergency Physicians and the Science Coalition.
