Legislation mandates the data collection function of the Chancellor’s Office Management Information Systems (COMIS or MIS). The data collected by MIS provides accountability for the functioning of the California Community Colleges to governing bodies and drives funding. MIS data supports accountability in the form of the Student Success Metrics Dashboard, the annual State of the System report and various reporting to the Legislature and Governor.

MIS Data

MIS data is used to calculate the supplemental and student success portions of district apportionments and allocations for various student services programs. MIS data is also used in the fulfillment of various federal and state government reporting requirements, such as completion rates, transfer rates and net price calculators for Student Right to Know and Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS) reporting to the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) at the federal level, and California Student Aid Commission SB70 reporting at the state level.
