MAY IS ASIAN AMERICAN AND PACIFIC ISLANDER HERITAGE MONTH

Gov. Gavin Newsom today issued a proclamation declaring May 2022 as “Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month." Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month is observed across the United States in May, offering all of us the opportunity to recognize and celebrate the numerous contributions and influence of Asian Americans and Pacific Islander Americans to our country.

In that spirit, everyone is invited to attend A Conversation with Yen Le Espiritu, PhD, a Distinguished Professor of Ethnic Studies, sociologist and award-winning author. The conversation is hosted by San Diego Miramar College and all are welcome to attend to celebrate AAPI Heritage Month.

Join the conversation tomorrow, Friday, May 13 from 12:30 – 1:30 p.m.

The California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office proudly honors all of our AAPI students, staff, faculty and administrators across our system. Check with your local college or district for AAPI celebrations all month long.
