REGISTRATION IS OPEN FOR THE ‘CALIFORNIA COMMUNITY COLLEGES LGBTQ+ SUMMIT 2022: A VIRTUAL EVENT!’ 

Early registration is now open for this year’s LGBTQ+ Summit on Wednesday and Thursday, May 4 and 5. This conference is a space for students, faculty, classified professionals and administrators. In previous years at least half of our attendees were students. 

The CCC LGBTQ+ Summit 2022 is an opportunity to collaborate with members of the California Community Colleges at all levels. We will learn from each other’s innovative and successful ideas that will transform campuses so that we better serve and affirm LGBTQ+ students. 

The conference is focused on improving not only individual community college campuses but also encouraging changes at the structural level.

Confirmed keynote speakers include California Community Colleges Deputy Chancellor Daisy Gonzales, PhD., and Bamby Salcedo, a highly regarded activist, community organizer and social justice advocate.

In this six-part series of webinars, the Chancellor’s Office will highlight ongoing efforts across the system to adopt, customize and scale equity-advancing strategies, tools and resources to facilitate systemic change and cultivate a more equitable, inclusive and transformative teaching and learning ecosystem.

Black Student Success Week is returning April 25-29, 2022. This year’s theme is: A Vision for Black Student Success: Creating a New Landscape to Succeed. The 2022 Black Student Success Week will focus on new approaches to ensure Black and African American students succeed at California Community Colleges as we recover from the pandemic.

The week’s activities will be held virtually and include:

Daily webinars hosted from 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m., called The Black Hour
Daily small group discussion forums from 1:30 p.m. – 2:30 p.m., called The After Party
A virtual advocacy day on Thursday, April 28th, called The BlackOut
