Learn About The Future Of Online Career Education During The CVC-OEI Speaker Series
The California Virtual Campus – Online Education Initiative (CVC-OEI) is hosting a series of webinars beginning October 27 focused on the future of online Career Education in California. This webinar series highlights the work of grantee colleges and districts that received funds from the California Community Colleges, through CVC-OEI, to accelerate innovative online learning opportunities leading to increased employability and upward mobility for working Californians. Each webinar provides an opportunity for grantees from different sectors of Career Education to share the approaches and lessons learned that made their online programs successes.
A full schedule of the webinars and individual registration links for each are available. Join the grantee colleges and districts and learn more about how their work is changing the future of online education throughout California.

System Guidance/News
The Chancellor’s Office is committed to keeping everyone informed during this uncertain time. We encourage administrators, faculty, staff and students to regularly check the Chancellor’s Office COVID-19 resource page and the Chancellor’s Office Communications to Colleges section for ongoing executive orders, guidance memos and announcements. Current and prospective students can also get connected with their local college to find out specific resources and support services available as well as enroll in their local community college.
Online Instruction/Webinars
The fourth annual Undocumented Student Action Week is October 19-23. Undocumented Student Action week is a systemwide campaign to advocate and provide support resources for our undocumented student population. During the week, all California community college students, faculty, staff and administrators are encouraged to engage in advocacy and support efforts in solidarity with undocumented students throughout the state.
A Chancellor’s Office System Webinar held Wednesday, called From Groundwork to Implementation: Bolstering Support for Undocumented Students, served in part as the kick-off to this very important week. College practitioners can find a recording of the webinar on the Vision Resource Center, and find Undocumented Student Action Week marketing, advocacy and resource materials at this site. There are also a number of system webinars and we encourage everyone to participate in at least one event this year:

New Student Caucus For Formerly Incarcerated And Systems Impacted Students
Formerly incarcerated and system impacted (FISI) students and community organizers are establishing a FISI Student Caucus to formally make their voices heard within the Student Senate for California Community Colleges. FISI student leaders at all California community colleges are invited to join. Students will join a planning committee for the caucus and work toward the caucus’s establishment, focusing on growing the mission of advocacy, unity and equity for students impacted by the criminal justice system through policy and campus involvement. Interested individuals can fill out this Google form to help schedule the date of the initial planning meeting.
The California Counseling Network, a community of practice sponsored by the Career Ladders Project, is hosting a series of Counselor Roundtable zoom sessions. Each session is an opportunity to gather with fellow practitioners from colleges and high schools and engage in conversations that matter and support our work with students and colleagues. The next session is Friday, October 16 from 12:00 - 1:30 p.m. and the focus is Counseling Underrepresented Students: Creating safe and supportive virtual spaces for Black and brown students. The LaunchBoard webinar series kicks off this week with an Introduction to the 2020 Community College Pipeline. The webinar is Friday, October 16 from 1:00 – 2:30 and participants will:
- Learn how to get useful data for your program, college, sector or region

- Gain an understanding of where to find helpful metrics aligned with statewide efforts
