New NextUp Videos Highlight Power of Foster Youth Program

The California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office has produced a new series of videos dedicated to sharing nine perspectives and stories of California foster youth who have experienced the transformative, life-saving power of the NextUp program. NextUp provides support and services for current and former foster youth at 45 California community college campuses.

In previous years producing NextUp videos, the Chancellor’s Office felt it was important to provide a platform for NextUp faculty to share their insights in these videos as well. Although NextUp faculty and staff are critically important and monumental in the transformations these students speak to, it has become even more critical that these videos focus on the student experience and amplify the voices of the NextUp student population first and foremost.

The colleges and students represented includes:

Pasadena City College – Gabriela Vaquerano and Steven Ambrocio

Orange Coast College – Jenavie Quintero and Christopher Huerta

College of Alameda – Deborah Lynch, Charnika Parker, Xochtil Larios

Laney College – Sunny Veth, Leslie Hernandez

The NextUp website, NextUp.cccco.edu, is currently in the process of being updated and will be relaunched in late summer.
