The Student Financial Assistance Programs Unit provides coordination, technical assistance and policy leadership for the California Community Colleges with respect to locally administered federal, state and institutional financial aid programs. These programs totaled almost $606 million and served more than half a million students in 1999/2000.
In addition, the unit administers the Board Financial Assistance Program (including the BFAP Administrative Allowance and the Board of Governors' Fee Waiver Program), the Chancellor's Office Tax Offset Program and the Real Estate Scholarship Program.
Students:
If you desire information on the types of student financial aid (fee waiver to waive your enrollment fee, grants, loans and work-study) available to help you meet your educational goals, it is best to contact the Financial Aid Office at your local community college. All community colleges have informational brochures which explains the types of aid available and have staff who can explain what documentation will be necessary to determine whether you have financial need. To apply for financial aid, the completion of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is required and can be obtained at every college Financial Aid Office.
