Announcement

 March 3, 2009

Dear colleagues,

Thank you for agreeing to participate in this year’s Board of Governors and Chancellor’s Community College Advocacy Day on March 3rd in Sacramento. We have close to 70 community college advocates signed up to join us representing the Board, faculty, CEO’s, administrators, students and local advocates.

We have set-up 12 teams of advocates to meet with Legislators and their staff beginning in the afternoon after the Board adjourns. Each of you have been assigned to a team ranging in size from 4– 6 advocates. We made every effort to have a diverse mix of views on each team and have teams meet with their local legislators. This was not possible to accomplish in all cases.

An Advocacy Day briefing will be held at the end of the Board meeting. Please plan to arrive for the briefing at least by 11:00 a.m., if you will not already be at the meeting. We will serve a light lunch after the meeting and have another opportunity to talk informally about the legislative visits.

Below you will find several briefing documents. Hard copies of these documents will be available at the Board meeting.

Please contact Troy Carter, Mike Magee or me:

Let us know as soon as possible if there are last minute changes to your schedule.  As you can see from the team assignments and meetings, the logistics are a balancing act.

We look forward to working with you and advocating on behalf of the California Community Colleges.

Sincerely,

Vice Chancellor Marlene L. Garcia
